This post is out of date and some portions of it may have been removed, or may no longer apply to the current version of RPGWanderer. Please check out this announcement for context.
We had a pretty productive week of development, a lot of it spent shoring up internal tools and getting our legs under us in the promotional department. It’s safe to say marketing is not our strongest suit. It’s unbearable.
The community reported several issues to us this week, and hopefully most are resolved. Details below.
General
- We’ve rolled out code to help track down client-side errors and generally help us improve user experience.
- The username filter & captchas were a little overzealous. They’ve been chilled out.
- The character sheet DNDBeyond importer had some fringe issues with very long backgrounds and other exotic data that should be handled better now. There’s still more to do here.
- The journal has audio cues attached.
- In-flight stories and combat encounters should no longer need to be reloaded when a system deployment takes place.
- …and a bunch of other too small to list individually issues discovered and reported throughout.
Combat Features & Improvements
- Various visual improvements in the Combat UI
- Unit messages (healing, damage, conditions) are more legible, and are no longer blocked by tokens, and no longer overlap.
- Fixes to the camera removing odd behaviour.
- Support for damage types and resistances are well under way!
- We’ve made performance improvements in the loading of combat encounters. Should load from faster to much faster, depending on your connection.
- There were rare cases where the encounter would load, but the loading screen wouldn’t disappear. This should now be resolved.
- Combat encounters closed, or disconnected during the initiative roll are no longer stuck there on reload.
- In some cases, Firefox would fail to load combat encounters with an asset load error. This should no longer happen.
Community & Kickstarter
- We’re continuing to sending out messages to backers to let them redeem rewards like Discord roles. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, you will soon.
Thanks to everyone who reported issues, please keep it up! Expect a lot of new features and improvements to combat in the next week now that we’ve patched up some of the reported bugs.
As usual, you can try Chapter 1 right in your browser for free.
